The ELYSIAN 1R is the most compact model in the ELYSIAN R Series, created for listeners who want the refinement, speed and musical expression of Wharfedale’s flagship loudspeaker platform in a more room-friendly standmount format. ELYSIAN 1R also makes the perfect surround for an ELYSIAN surround system.

Its two-way design combines the further-developed ELYSIAN R AMT high-frequency driver with a 7” coated glass fibre matrix bass/mid driver, delivering a sound that is open, articulate and naturally balanced. Compact does not mean compromised — ELYSIAN 1R is engineered to preserve the essential qualities of the larger models: clarity, tonal richness, precise imaging and effortless musical communication.

The Story

The original ELYSIAN series was admired for bringing true high-end loudspeaker qualities to a more attainable level. ELYSIAN 1R continues that philosophy by distilling the range’s essential technology into its most compact enclosure.

As part of Generation R, the 1R benefits from the same programme of refinement applied across the series. The AMT treble unit is further developed for speed and openness. The coated glass fibre matrix cone is engineered for clarity and control. The crossover is refined for cleaner integration and more direct signal routing. The cabinet preserves ELYSIAN’s sculpted form while gaining the updated finish language of ELYSIAN R.

The result is a compact flagship standmount speaker with the precision of a monitor and the warmth, scale and musicality that define Wharfedale.

The 27 x 90mm Air Motion Transformer delivers fast, open and extended high-frequency performance with excellent transient accuracy.

The ELYSIAN R AMT is engineered for speed, openness and precision. Its pleated diaphragm moves air with exceptional efficiency, giving the loudspeaker a sense of effortless detail and natural high-frequency extension.

Coated Glass Fibre Matrix Bass/Mid Driver

The 7” driver is engineered for strength, damping and low distortion, helping ELYSIAN 1R deliver natural midband expression and controlled bass.

The bass and midrange drivers feature coated glass-fibre matrix cones selected for their durability, lightweight construction, and effective vibration damping. This ensures crisp bass, a natural midrange tone, and minimal colouration.

SLPP Bass Management

Wharfedale’s Slot-Loaded Profiled Port system enhances bass extension and control, minimises turbulence, and reduces placement sensitivity.

This results in bass that is strong, quick, and reliable under typical listening conditions.

Matching ELYSIAN 1R stands are available, featuring high-carbon-steel tube construction, high-carbon-steel top plates and hardened high-carbon-steel base spikes.

Standing at 476mm, each stand places the ELYSIAN 1R at the correct listening position while giving the loudspeaker a secure and mechanically stable platform. Its precision-engineered structure helps reduce unwanted vibration and resonance, allowing the speaker cabinet and drive units to perform with greater clarity, focus and control.

Constructed from high-carbon steel tube with a high-carbon steel top plate and hardened high-carbon steel base spikes, the ELYSIAN 1R Stand is designed to complement the natural, wide-bandwidth performance of the loudspeaker. By effectively coupling the stand to the floor and supporting the cabinet with confidence, it helps preserve the openness, imaging and refinement that define ELYSIAN R.
